Brawn and Brains Coffee at East Coast is its second outlet, while the flagship cafe is located at Guillemard Road. Brawn and Brains Coffee has a carefully curated selection of roasted coffee and is no stranger to coffee lovers. Brawn and Brains Coffee East Coast spots a minimalist rustic interior – white-washed walls, brown tiles and with black furnishing. It has a bit of a similarity to their original cafe’s design – you can expect a cosy ambience.

What we had at Brawn and Brains Coffee East Coast

Flat White ($5) and Iced White ($6)

We ordered the Flat White and Ice White in 2 different blends – their house blend and Single Origin. Their signature house blend is made up of 50% Colombia, 30% Ethiopia and 20% Brazil coffee beans. It is specially curated to produce that well-balanced tinge of nutty, chocolatey and floral notes. Their Single Origin on the other hand originates from Huehuetenango, a city in the highlands of Western Guatemala. They are hand picked and harvested, producing a quality taste profile locked in its beans. Both coffee blends had a rich and nutty profile, and it goes really well with the milk.

Hot Latte with Oat Milk ($6.20)

I have been experimenting with Oat Milk Coffees and they are growing on me. While there is a grassy taste to Oat Milk, there is a hint of sweetness too. Paired together with the aromatic blend of coffee beans from Brawn and Brains, the Latte with Oat Milk is something I would recommend.

Rustic Apple Galette ($5.30)

No cafe hopping is complete without something to munch on! Rustic Apple Galette is a French dessert made by thinly wrapping cinnamon stewed apples with a flat layer of pastry. It is unlike how we normally imagine a French dessert to be – aesthetically pleasing. The Rustic Apple Galette is indeed rustic looking. I was hoping for the pastry to be buttery and flaky, but the one we had was dense and on a drier side. There were also a few edges that were burnt, which left a bitter aftertaste. The saving grace would be the sweet cinnamon apple slices, which complemented the pastry.

Other than coffees and bakes, Brawn and Brains Coffee East Coast also has a brunch menu. You can find the usual cafe food such as Avocado on toast and Scrambled Eggs. If you are looking for a heavier meal, there are fried chicken and burgers too. Whether you are the brawn or the brains, there is something for everyone here.
